Issues - The baby is thirsty

If you baby is crying just 20 or 30mins after a feed.

Is he/she thirsty?
Well. Yes and no.

What you can do is to give them a sip of water.
SIP.
Just one or 2 suckle is enough.

And if they cry somemore, try to pacify them. Babies have extremely small stomach.
Let's take for example.

They drink 100ml of milk and can last for 2hours before the next feed.

But 1hour after the 100ml of milk, they cry and you feed them water. Being a baby, he/she drinks the water (let's say 40ml) and goes to sleep.

You think that you've done a good job.
But that's not true. You have simply filled the stomach with water. Making the baby feel full.
But water have no value. No calories, no nutrients, Zero.

The baby will now start to wake up faster. Maybe 1 hour per feed.
The stomach will keep containing "x"ml of water and the process continues and continues.

By the time you realise, you will be so tired and fed up, because you will be feeding them 100ml every hour or so, but they only will drink 50ml and then cry again for water and ... ok you know what i mean.

A nurse told me, if you are total breastfeed. There is no need to give water.
If formula, give a little after feed to clean the mouth and flush the milk all in.
Babies like to keep a mouth of milk after feed. So a sip is enough to flush it all down.

But i know it's hard not to give water at all.
But just keep it minimum. It's crazy to say no water at all. But.. we all want the best for the babies right?
