Closer to the date.
Sign up to go for "Parent Craft Lesson".
My wife delivered at Thomson Medical Centre and they have such lessons.
It's slightly over S$100+ for a couple.
There are 5 practical lessons and a talk.
Try to attend it once you start your 7th Month of pregnancy. Anytime after that, you may be too big and too tired to sit in class.
The lesson will teach you how to shower your baby, how to change diapers, how to breast feed, the exercises you should do to stretch your hurting back, the operation procedures, natural birth vs c-section birth, the things you should buy, the breast pump, the feeding pillows, basically everything you should ever know in a crash course.
There is a "I LOVE YOU" massage for the baby to dewind their stomach that you should really learn. It allow the baby to dewind and pass motion should he/she have any trouble doing that and it clears his/her bowels well after that.
(Email me if you wish to know the steps)
By now, you should have also selected the bed type, delivery method and all arrangements required on the day.
Do remember that even if you choose a suite, if on the day of delivery, if the suites are full, you will have to accept another lower grade. Just accept it and try not to argue with the nurses.
They cannot do anything. Please remain happy that you are going to have a baby and that his/her health and smooth delivery is the utmost importance.
Nothing else.
From the 7th month on, you should switch from your tonic to bird nests.
Some people will drink one coconut to cool down the body so that the baby will be born looking more pretty.
From my experience, coconut will cause swelling in the feet.
To fix that, try frying those "red colored" rice.. i can't recall the name right now.
But fry that, and put it into hot boiling water and drink it.
It will reduce swelling of the feet and make the baby look cute and red.
Proven for my wife.
